Thanksgiving 2011
From the "only in America" files, I present to you the Turducken. That is, a turkey, stuffed with a duck, which is stuffed with a chicken, and three different types of stuffing between each layer. Yeah its real, and we had it on Thanksgiving Day this year curtesy of our good friend and chef-extraordinaire Pete. It took him over a day to prepare and 9 hours to cook.
As gross as it may sound, it was actually pretty good. The chicken got lost in it all, but the richness of the duck was nice against the usual bland turkey. More holiday photos here.

Moved Again
Is it a psychological condition or a law of physics that leads Aucklanders towards old, cold, and run down Victorian homes? We moved out of the apartment into a 3 bedroom house just across the road. It was built in the 1880s and apparently at one point it used to be a fourplex (housed four families). This is our 5th place in three and a half years in the US, getting pretty sick of moving. So its cold, and the kitchen is really weird, but its nice to have a back yard again, I even mowed the lawns for my first time in about 10 years!
